The Bluffton Arts & Seafood Festival is the signature event of the Lowcountry fall calendar — three days when Old Town Bluffton transforms into an open-air gallery, seafood hall, and concert venue all at once. More than 100 juried artists and craftspeople line Calhoun Street and the surrounding blocks, joined by local seafood vendors, food trucks, and live music on multiple stages. It's free to attend, family-friendly, and genuinely one of the best small-town festivals in South Carolina.

What to Expect

1

Juried Art & Craft Vendors

Over 100 artists from across the Southeast display and sell original paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics, and handmade crafts. The quality is consistently high — this is a juried show, not a flea market. Budget time to browse all three days; the vendor mix changes slightly each day.

2

Lowcountry Seafood & Food Vendors

Local seafood vendors serve fresh oysters, shrimp, crab, and Lowcountry classics alongside food trucks and prepared-food booths. Saturday draws the biggest crowds and the longest lines — arrive early or come back Sunday morning for a more relaxed experience.

3

Live Music on Multiple Stages

Multiple performance stages run throughout the festival, featuring regional and local acts spanning blues, Americana, jazz, and Southern rock. Friday evening is the most intimate — smaller crowds, cooler temperatures, and the golden light of an October Lowcountry evening.

4

Kids' Activities & Family Programming

A dedicated kids' area offers hands-on art activities, face painting, and interactive demonstrations. The festival is stroller-friendly and well-suited for families — Sunday afternoon tends to be the most relaxed time for families with young children.

Parking

No dedicated festival lot. Best options: Heyward House lot (70 Boundary St), Bluffton Parkway park-and-ride, or Bluffton Community Park lot with a short walk. Arrive before 10 AM Saturday for street parking on Calhoun Street. Calhoun Street closes to vehicles during festival hours.

Visitor tips

Tips for Attending

  • Friday evening is the best-kept secret — smaller crowds, cooler air, and the same great art and music as Saturday.

  • Bring cash for vendors; many artists prefer it and some don't accept cards.

  • Wear comfortable shoes — Calhoun Street is brick and uneven in places.

  • Arrive before 10 AM Saturday if you want street parking. After that, use the Bluffton Community Park lot and walk.

  • The festival is free but bring a budget for art, food, and drinks — it's easy to spend $50–$100 without noticing.

  • Dogs are welcome on leash. Bring water for your pet — October in the Lowcountry can still be warm.
